Meet Our Teachers
Ash Barratt (A.R.A.D)
Ash has been involved in the dance world since a very young age, completing all her RAD exams with distinction by the age of 16 under the direction of Christine Bowman.
After studying full time classical ballet for 10 years, Ash then went on to study performing arts for two years at Ministry of Dance & The Space, where she was exposed to many different dance styles including Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical and Musical Theatre. Ash has worked with the likes of Paul Malek, Gideon Obzarzanel, Kelly Akyers, Troy Phillips and Adam Wheeler and international choreographers Daniel Brown and Michelle Zeitlin
After years on the stage and in the studio, Ash opened Volar Dance Centre and has been the owner and operator for the last 9 years. Ash has a passion for the classical art form and the teaching of students of all abilities.
Junior Ballet, Contemporary & Competition
Kira commenced her dancing with Volar Dance Centre at the age of 9 participated in classes such as ballet, contemporary, pointe, jazz, hip hop, acro and tap. Throughout the years, Kira has become heavily involved within the studio - assisting in classes which saw her teaching at the age of 15.
Kira has had extensive ATOD training, completing her Elementary classical ballet exam in 2018. She has also been a member of Scimm's Youth company, performing in Chromosome X in 2017 and VOID in 2018. Kira has completed VCE obtaining a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation as well as achieving a place at Deakin University where she will study a Bachelor in Exercise and Sport Science.
Kira is currently studying with Transit Dance to complete her Diploma of Dance (Contemporary) as well as her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management.
Ballet, Pointe, Senior Contemporary & Competition
Julia Lamke is a dancer and dance teacher who has completed her Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) at Transit Dance located in Melbourne, Australia in 2017.
She has been closely involved since the age of four in the classical and contemporary dance streams. She has undertaken lessons in classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance, with a little taste of acrobatics, hip hop, aerial and silks, latin dance, alexander technique and somatics classes. Recently, Julia has graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance) from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2016. In 2018 and 2017 Julia was a dancer in ‘Satellite’ and ‘Love is Blind’ which was by Dustin Tebbutt.
In addition, Julia has also obtained her Royal Academy of Dance Teacher's Training Course (RAD), which was provided through QUT's Access Route.
Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap
Zayneb has studied classical ballet from the age of four.
She has also studied Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary from a young age.
Zayneb moved to Melbourne from New Zealand on her own at the age of 17 to study full time dance at Dance World Studios.
She graduated with an Advanced Diploma in performing arts at the end of 2018 before she completed her RAD advanced 2 with distinction in 2019.
Currently Zayneb teaches RAD grade 3 ballet, blue bird ballet, jazz, hip hop, strength and tone, Broadway jazz and Tap.
Acro (Private Tuition Only)
After moving to Wodonga in 2011 Ellen was the tap principle of Border Danceworks studios and was the choreographer for productions such as "The Boyfriend" "A town on the map" Sweeney Todd" and "The Wizard of Oz" with the local theatre companies.
After 2 years Ellen graduated from Dance World Studios to pursue her love of teaching. She choreographed for cabaret shows at Voltaire and other styles for dance schools such as Turning Pointe Dance Centre, Next generation studios, Supersonics and many more.
She has been trained by ACRO Dance Australia and currently trains at NICA.
