Since opening in 2010, Volar Dance Centre has developed a strong reputation for being an inclusive and family friendly atmosphere within the dance community of the Western suburbs.
We offer a variety of classes that foster a love of dance and a strong work ethic through technical expertise. Our classes are fun, energetic and aimed to inspire all students to be the best they can be. Whether for fun, fitness or to fulfill dreams of dancing as a career, we cater to all young dancer’s needs.
Meet the Team
Ash Barratt (A.R.A.D)
Ash has been involved in the dance world since a very young age, completing all her RAD exams with distinction by the age of 16 under the direction of Christine Bowman.
After studying full time classical ballet for 10 years, Ash then went on to study performing arts for two years at Ministry of Dance & The Space, where she was exposed to many different dance styles including Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical and Musical Theatre. Ash has worked with the likes of Paul Malek, Gideon Obzarzanel, Kelly Akyers, Troy Phillips and Adam Wheeler and international choreographers Daniel Brown and Michelle Zeitlin
After years on the stage and in the studio, Ash opened Volar Dance Centre and has been the owner and operator for the last 10 years. Ash has a passion for the classical art form and the teaching of students of all abilities.
Junior Ballet, Contemporary and Competition
Kira commenced her dancing with Volar Dance Centre at the age of 9 participated in classes such as ballet, contemporary, pointe, jazz, hip hop, acro and tap. Throughout the years, Kira has become heavily involved within the studio - assisting in classes which saw her teaching at the age of 15.
Kira has had extensive ATOD training, completing her Elementary classical ballet exam in 2018. She has also been a member of Scimm's Youth company, performing in Chromosome X in 2017 and VOID in 2018. Kira has completed VCE obtaining a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation as well as achieving a place at Deakin University where she will study a Bachelor in Exercise and Sport Science.
Kira is currently studying with Transit Dance to complete her Diploma of Dance (Contemporary) as well as her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management.
Jazz, Hip Hop and Dance
Zayneb has studied classical ballet from the age of four. She has also studied Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary from a young age.
Zayneb moved to Melbourne from New Zealand on her own at the age of 17 to study full time dance at Dance World Studios.
She graduated with an Advanced Diploma in performing arts at the end of 2018 before she completed her RAD advanced 2 with distinction in 2019.
Currently Zayneb teaches RAD grade 3 ballet, blue bird ballet, jazz, hip hop, strength and tone, Broadway jazz and Tap.
Ballet and Senior Contemporary
Starting from a young age Rory Neville was heavily involved with the local arts community of his hometown. He began his training at the age of 8 at the Ann Roberts school of dance where he further developed his passion for performing and his love of dance.
In 2017 he began full time training at the National theatre ballet school under the directorship of Beverly Jane fry where he completed his Certificate IV in elite performance (Classical). He then moved to WA in 2018 to further his studies at the Perth school of ballet under the mentor ship of Simone Jackson Pike, Janine Ban and Margaret Illman. In 2019 he was accepted into the post graduate program at the Alberta Ballet School in Canada where he trained under The guidance of Edmund stripe and Murray Kilgour. Later in 2019 Rory moved back to Australia to further his contemporary training at Transit dance working with Paul Malek, Jayden Hicks and Bradley Chatfield. In 2020 Rory joined Scimm dance company under the directorship of Scott Pokorny and Tim. J . Barnes as an apprentice artist and in 2021 has now become a senior company artist. Rory is trained in both RAD and Cecchetti syllabus and has also studied Martha graham and Merce Cunningham technique.
Rory believes in nurturing the talent of young dancers and encouraging students to reaching their full potential.
